Supreme Court Rules Lokayukta Police Cannot Claim Section 24(4) RTI Exemption

The Supreme Court held that the Special Police Establishment (SPE) of the Lokayukta is an anti-corruption investigative unit, not an "intelligence and security organisation" entitled to blanket exemption under Section 24(4) of the RTI Act, 2005. Consequently, the Court struck down the Madhya Pradesh notification exempting the SPE and confirmed that details regarding the grant of prosecution sanction must be disclosed under the RTI Act once investigation is complete.
